How it all started
BikerSense started as result of logging thousands of commuting miles on bikes and having dozens of close calls. We believe that the best safety feature for bikers is awareness so you can be in control of the situation.
The early prototype showed the power of BikerSense and encourage us to push forward.
Why BikerSense
We believe the best safety system is awareness at all times.

We run and informal survey with a couple of motorcycle groups and we validated that we, bikers, are conscious of the lack of awareness of what is happening behind and around us. The data we collected shows that we scan rear view mirrors every 11 sec on average albeit some admitted that they check mirrors only prior to initiating a maneuver.
In 11 seconds a vehicle traveling at 30Mph can cover a distance greater than a football field!

Blind spot systems based on ultrasonics beams used in the automotive industry cannot be used on motorcycles. Why? Every time we turn, we lean. That would make them go off, sensing the ground. Also, their range is too limited to be truly useful on a bike (30ft at best).

Frustrated with the lack of progress the industry has made on this topic, we have applied our skills in machine learning and R&D to build BikerSense.

BikeSense does the sensing for us using machine vision. It then translates the visual information into a simple, intuitive lights we perceive with peripheral vision, removing the need to look down all the times, in turn making us constantly aware of our immediate surroundings.
